SPRING

Did you know the Shiribetsu River is famed to be one of Japan's clearest rivers? The Shiribetsu River was praised as “Japan's Clearest Stream” for seven consecutive years and is much more than just a beautiful river! Between April and May, the mountains' snow melts and makes the river an excellent rafting spot. The river is also home to a variety of Hokkaido's wondrous wildlife waiting to be discovered by you.

SUMMER

During the summer, Niseko's mountains offer various trekking courses suited for both beginners and experienced hikers. From July to August, sunflowers, white mustard, and many other flowers are in their full bloom for everyone to enjoy.

AUTUMN

Niseko is famous for its Erman's birches. During autumn, the birches change their leaves' color into a beautiful bright yellow, making it the primary color of Niseko's autumn. The autumn leaves shining through the mountain fog are a breathtaking sight you shouldn't miss on your trip to Niseko. Also, since Niseko is a mountain region, the autumn leaves and wildflowers vary depending on their elevation level. Even if you miss the autumn leaves higher in the mountains, you can still see them around Niseko Town!

WINTER

Thanks to a steady flow of cold air from Siberia, Niseko gets the best quality and quantity of snow in the region. This snow creates a unique floating sensation you will find nowhere else. From beginners to advanced skiers, anyone can enjoy Niseko's powder snow!

Niseko About Niseko

Niseko, the name of our region, is derived from the word "Nisekoan." Nisekoan means "steep cliff with a river below" in the Ainu language (the language of Hokkaido's native inhabitants).

Niseko Town is located in the western part of central Hokkaido in the Shiribeshi subprefecture. Widely known for Mt. Yotei and Mt. Niseko Annupuri, Niseko is also famous for its nature, activities, mild summer, and thriving agriculture.
